Census Records

Worthington Census Records are available from 1830 through 1940 except for 1890. There are two free genealogical websites available with a Worthington or Columbus library card.

Heritage Quest can be searched from any computer by going to www.worthingtonlibraries.org > Research > All Research Databases A to Z > Heritage Quest Online > type in library card number > Search Census > complete form for surname, year, and date > choose Franklin County > choose from the list of names by township or city ward. For example: search Pinney > 1900 > Ohio and you will receive nineteen names in Franklin County, two in Sharon Township.

Ancestry can be searched at the Worthington Library or any Columbus Library on their computers or from any other computer at www.ancestry.com with a membership. It has more indexes available than Heritage Quest but the primary information is the same.

Both the Ohio Historical Society and the Main Columbus Metropolitan Library have all available Ohio Census records on microfilm for searching and photocopying.

If you live outside of central Ohio, check your local library resources. The Ohio Historical Society will loan census records through local libraries if they have a microfilm reader. Be sure to check the OHS card catalog to find the correct microfim GR number to request.
